Nature, Water, and Landscapes Gallery
"Flowers are God's brushstrokes, every day" -Donna Liguria
Artwork gallery of landscapes, ocean beaches, coasts, and out in nature.
Donna Liguria loves painting nature in all its glory. Her style tends to be photorealism. The land, the sea, the sky - a great view from a window, a nature walk snapping photos along the way, or the occasional plein air painting are joys to share. To capture nature on a canvas and place it in our homes to enjoy, to her is to (re)experience the fragrance floating on the breeze, the sounds of the birds going about their business, the gentleness or the quiet of the view. Much like we listen to a conch shell to hear the ocean, a painting of an ocean allows us to hear those waves again too. The voice of God is heard through nature.
If you love nature and want original artwork featured for your own home, your business, or as a gift, I'd love to hear from you.

Bluebells by the Banks (2025)
A landscape painting on stretched canvas, features the stream running through the Merrimac Farm in Nokesville, VA, which feeds the bluebells growing there. In nature, the Bluebell flowers love growing in moist and shaded areas. The Bluebell Festival is held in the early spring, and going out there and having an art show with the PWAS art group has been lots of fun - and I can take a ton of reference photos! The quiet, the beauty, the blue of the flowers...inspiration at its best.

Streams Never Stay the Same (2021)
I grew up in Alexandria, Virginia and there was a creek behind our house along with a long open field (great for games), and a wooded hill side. A pool was at the top of the hill. Every single day, the stream of the creek was different, the layout of the rocks, the banks, how you could get across, all of it. Although this acrylic landscape painting on stretched canvas, is wider than that creek, it reminds me so much of living by that creek. It was a great place to grow up back then. The painting size is 11x14x1.5 and prints are available on
Etsy.
Medium: Acrylic
Subject: River, Stream, Creek, Nature, Landscape, Woods

Sailing Away (2020)

Top of the Morning to You (2025)
An acrylic floral painting on stretched canvas, this 12x24x1.5 painting features glorious Morning Glories - which inhabit my tiny backyard this year in all their fabulous colors! I will need to save the seeds so I can enjoy these flowers again next year.

Subject: Morning Glories, Fence, Flowers

Stormy Seas (2024)
A stormy ocean painting on stretched canvas, the lightening bolt thunders above a deep blue body of water, dark clouds above, with the moon glowing in a halo of clouds. I have a few different versions of lightening over water seascapes scenes and enjoy painting and capturing that bolt of light in various ways. This is about the largest canvas I have worked with so far and the deep feeling of the power, the beauty, the vastness of nature are captured here, I feel.

Sunrise Through the Trees (2023)
An acrylic landscape painting on stretched canvas, this 11x14x1.5 painting features a path through a patch of trees with the sunrise coming up of in the distance above a field. This 11x14x1.5 landscape acrylic painting on stretched canvas, is of a stream of water running through a bluebell field with paths and small waterfalls along the way. Bluebell Strolling at Merrimac Farm (2024)
The reference photo for the picture was taken at Merrimac Farm for the Bluebell Festival. Those paths run a circuit all around the forest to be enjoyed by all the visitors. Stay on the paths! Protect nature and the bluebells growing there! Off in the distance is a visitor enjoying the stroll, taking in the blues of the day. When I took my stroll away from the Festival, the quietness of the woods quickly mutes the hustle and bustle of the vendors - amazing.

Going for a Walk with Grandpa (2021)
A wooded landscape painting of a young child walking with his or her Grandpa and a dog through the trees along a path. I was reminded of my own Grandfather. He was a great guy, funny, worked hard, laughed harder, loved messing around with my Grandma and getting her stirred up. He would take me fishing and he loved that I shared his interest in gardening and growing vegetables.
Size: 11x14 stretched canvas
Medium: Acrylic
Subject: Landscape, Nature, Grandpa, Grandchild

Only God Can Make a Tree (2022)
A human standing next to a full grown tree and looking up understands how small we are. Sort of like standing on the shoreline and looking out at the ocean - we are like a speck of sand, or a leaf on the ground. Romans 1:20 "For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse."
Size: stretched canvas 18x24x1.5
Medium: Acrylic
Subject: Tree Trunk

Koi Pond (2020)
In one of my homes, I had a koi pond. I miss it - the peacefulness of it, the trickle of water from the waterfall. The blooms of the lotus and greenery of the lily pads. Then the mad scramble of fish and fins when they sensed you were coming...food is happening! All those colors! Then one day discovering there were little fish in there too! Such a great feeling encompass this water garden.

A Seashore Day (2020)

Underwater Coral Floral (2021)
A look at the underwater world where the coral grows - although it is an animal not a plant, nor a rock, to me it sort of is the "flower of the ocean". The other creatures hide around it and in it, living because of it.

Harkers Island, NC (2023)
Visiting a friend that lives on Harkers Island in North Carolina, we visited another friend that lives in nearby Beaufort. Traveling by golf cart, she drove us over to her community's boat landing and perhaps picnic area. Across the water there, you can see Harkers Island and at the time, the soon-to-open bridge to get there. An egret rests upon a pier post, taking a break from his birdly duties. A 16x20 acrylic painting on stretched canvas, Harkers Island is in Carteret County and part of the Outer Banks National Scenic Byway.

Reclaiming (2023)
The waves have brought forth a beautiful conch shell landing in the sand. And the waves are about to reclaim it. The painting is 8x10 acrylic on stretched canvas and has glass beads painted into the sandy part of the beach - appropriately because glass is primarily made from silica sand.
Medium: Acrylic, Glass Beads
Subject: Conch Shell, Ocean Wave, Beach

Pony Day at Shackleford Banks (2024)
Shackleford Banks is a barrier island that sits near Harkers Island. The island is populated with feral ponies, so going out on the boat with friends, we watch for a "pony view". Well, that and the nearby Cape Lookout Lighthouse and definitely for dolphins, sea turtles and all the ocean loving birds. The landscape / seascape painting is 20x20 acrylic on stretched canvas, featuring some of the ponies with one wading in the water. And in the foreground, a couple of dolphins are swimming.

Blue Glass Vase on Table (2022)
My mom collected blue glass. She had a pretty good collection at one time, of various shapes, sizes, and uses. I have some of the pieces now. Her blue glass collection was the inspiration for this painting - to capture the reflections with the glass and water. The blue hydrangeas in the vase are what put this artwork in the Nature Gallery. The painting is 9x12 acrylic on stretched canvas, featuring a blue background and the vase sitting on a table, bringing nature indoors.
Medium: Acrylic
Subject: Blue Glass Vase, Hydrangeas
