About Donna Liguria Art

A native Virginian, born in Alexandria and wandering through Central Virginia (Louisa, Richmond, Charlottesville, Roanoke) before moving back up to Northern Virginia and landing in Woodbridge in 2007, Donna Liguria has always been a dabbling artist and painter, working mainly with acrylics on canvas. Her style is typically ‘painted realism’ or 'photorealism', rendering landscapes, seascapes, animals and pet portraits, and wonderful places to be and see. She often gets comments, “is it a photo or a painting?”

Her life-long art experiences included a previous paint business, called WallDreams where she painted murals on walls in restaurants and homes around Virginia. Previous “non-art” work also included owning several restaurant businesses in Charlottesville and in Louisa, Virginia, and working for a Northern Virginia IT company.

Mostly self-taught, Donna is inspired by beautiful colors, textures, sun light, and shadows with a passion to applying the captured vision to canvas, with thought to “painting it as real as it can be”. Now retired, Donna can dedicate more time to the arts, gardening, and other pursuits.

A member of the Prince William Art Society (PWAS) and the Prince William County Arts Council (PWCAC), Donna is very interested in promoting the art and artists in Prince William County. As the blog master of both the PWAS Artistry Spin Blog and her own Donna's Cave Painting Blog, Donna writes articles of interest to the PWAS Members, artists in general, and introducing her new artworks too.
